stems from changing the citizen’s status from being part of the national
community only to being part of the global community. The consequent
responsibilities that fall upon him in preserving the planet, and his overall
national and global participation to achieve this. The idea of responsibility has
always been at the core of the idea of citizenship. Global environmental
citizenship depends on an interrelated set of behaviors. Every human being is a
citizen who belongs to this world and has a shared responsibility towards the
land on which he lives, in order to live in peace, security and dignity.
