Publication Rules

The Journal of Legal and Political Sciences is a semi-annual peer-reviewed scholarly journal specializing in the publication of original research in law, political science, and related disciplines, in Arabic and English. The journal considers only manuscripts submitted in the form of complete scholarly research articles that meet academic publishing requirements, whether they are independent research articles or derived from master’s theses or doctoral dissertations, provided that they are rewritten as original scholarly articles and not as thesis or dissertation summaries.

The journal adopts the following publication rules:

  1. The manuscript must be original, not previously published in whole or in part, and not under consideration by any other journal or publisher at the same time.
  2. The journal accepts research articles derived from master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, provided that they are submitted as independent scholarly articles, with the participation of the researcher and supervisor when appropriate, and are subject to the journal’s editorial screening and peer-review procedures.
  3. Authors must submit a declaration confirming the originality of the manuscript, that it has not been previously published, that it is not submitted elsewhere, and that it is free from plagiarism or unauthorized similarity.
  4. The manuscript must comply with the principles of scholarly research and include the following elements: title, authors’ names and affiliations, abstracts in Arabic and English, keywords, introduction, research problem, objectives, methodology, main text, findings or conclusions, recommendations when applicable, citations or footnotes, and a complete reference list.
  5. The manuscript must be written in clear and sound academic language and must comply with the journal’s template and author guidelines published on the journal’s website. The Editorial Board reserves the right to return manuscripts that require linguistic, formatting, or methodological revision before peer review.
  6. Manuscripts written in English are subject to language editing, and the journal may request proof of language quality or require the author to conduct professional language editing before publication.
  7. Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word format or any electronic format approved by the journal, using the official template available on the journal’s website. Clear and consistent formatting of fonts, headings, tables, figures, and citations is required.
  8. The maximum number of manuscript pages shall be determined according to the journal’s author guidelines or publication fees page. If a manuscript exceeds the permitted length, any additional page charges officially announced on the journal’s website shall apply, if applicable.
  9. The journal adopts Chicago Style for citation and referencing, or any referencing style announced in the official journal template. All references must be accurate and complete, and citations must be provided in the text or footnotes according to the approved style.
  10. Tables, figures, images, and illustrations must be numbered consecutively, titled, sourced when applicable, and cited within the manuscript text. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use any materials for which they do not hold copyright.
  11. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism and text-similarity screening using approved software. The journal does not rely solely on the numerical similarity percentage; the Editorial Board evaluates the nature, source, documentation, and effect of similarity on the originality of the manuscript.
  12. Manuscripts that pass initial editorial screening are sent for specialized peer review. Decisions of acceptance, revision, or rejection are made by the Editorial Board based on reviewers’ reports and the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s scope, publication rules, and research ethics.
  13. The journal does not provide paid publication priority that bypasses editorial screening or peer review. Publication priority after final acceptance is based on completion of technical and editorial requirements, order of acceptance, and the journal’s issue publication policy.
  14. Publication fees or any technical fees, if applicable, are announced clearly on a separate page on the journal’s website. Publication fees are charged only after acceptance and shall not influence editorial decisions or peer-review outcomes.
  15. The corresponding author must provide complete information for all authors, including full name, academic title if applicable, institutional affiliation, email address, phone number, and ORCID iD if available.
  16. All authors must approve the final version submitted for publication, the order of authorship, and the designation of the corresponding author, and they share responsibility for the originality and accuracy of the manuscript.
  17. Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest, acknowledge all sources of funding or support, if any, and obtain the necessary ethical or official approvals when the research includes field data, interviews, questionnaires, or information related to individuals or institutions.
  18. Authors must disclose the use of generative artificial intelligence tools, if any, for language editing, improving wording, translation, or organizing ideas. Artificial intelligence tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, and full scientific, ethical, and legal responsibility remains with the authors.
  19. The opinions expressed in published articles are solely those of their authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the journal, the Editorial Board, or the publisher.
  20. The journal is not obliged to return original manuscripts or submitted materials, whether accepted or rejected, while maintaining the confidentiality of submitted materials and not using them outside the editorial, peer-review, and publication processes.
  21. Authors retain copyright of their works published in the journal and grant the Journal of Legal and Political Sciences the right of first publication. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits use, sharing, and reuse, provided that proper acknowledgment is given to the authors, the journal, and the original source of publication.
  22. Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s online submission system on its official website. Submissions sent through social media applications or delivered personally are not considered official submissions unless they are properly entered into the journal’s online system.
  23. If plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, a significant error, or a breach of publication ethics is discovered before or after publication, the journal reserves the right to take the appropriate action in accordance with its policies, including rejecting the manuscript, publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, retracting the published article, or notifying relevant bodies when necessary.
